Where is Oaxaca?

To start with, Oaxaca is both a state and city in southern Mexico.  The state is the fourth largest state in Mexico.  The city of Oaxaca is the capital of the state, and is about 320 miles (about a six hour drive) southeast of Mexico City.  It is mountainous and the city is part of a valley with an altitude of 5100 feet.  The city has a tropical savannah climate with a wet season and a dry season.

The state goes all the way to the Pacific Ocean and includes the tourist beaches of the bays of Huatulco.  Northwest along the coast, but outside of Oaxaca State, is the major tourist city of Acapulco.  For a very complete description of Oaxaca, go to the Wikipedia website for the city:
